I was just 16 when my mother passed away from this disease. After her death one of the most difficult things for me was feeling powerless. Then at the age of twenty, just 4 years after losing my mom to breast cancer, I discovered a lump in my right breast. I have never been more terrified. Thankfully, a biopsy determined that the lump was benign and it was removed.
They're not races, or runs, and everyone wins the Race for Life except cancer. A Race for Life 5k takes about an hour to complete, but there's absolutely no pressure to finish in a certain time. One of the best ways to have fun and raise money for Race for Life is to get together as a group.
