A watch enthusiast for years, Stijn decided to create his own brand and infuse his passion into the market. A mechanical timepiece built by modern standards with a pure design where form follows function. The Bonaire has a case size of 39mm and a thickness of 12,5mm, including the crystal. Lug to lug it measures 48,50mm. It will be available with three different dial variations you will be asked to choose the one you'd like at the end of the Kickstarter campaign.
With decades, sometimes centuries, of history under their belt, watch companies are taking the opportunity to bring back some of their old favourites. If we are determined to think the worst, then it could be designers hitting a brick wall in their heads, or shareholders holding watch CEOs at gun point, that vintage watch designs are being raided from company archives and given new life in contemporary collections that look… little different. This is, however, not an isolated phenomenon unique to the watch trade. It is not a bad thing. Petrolheads should be so lucky to have car companies ape their cousins in the watch trade. But they are not. And for watch buyers, let us count our blessings and sample some of the notable icons that have been given a refresh of the body, but thankfully, not in spirit.
As a rule, vintage pocket watches are either key-set, pendant-set stem-set , lever-set or pin-set. The easiest way to tell which one you have is to look for the setting lever. If your watch is lever-set, there will be a setting-lever visible somewhere around the dial of the watch, though you usually have to remove the bezel and crystal to see it. Just because your case has a notch cut for a lever, doesn't mean that you have a lever-set watch, as many cases could accommodate either a lever-set or pendant-set movement. Look for the actual tip of the setting lever, which should be visible poking out at the edge of the dial.
